Getting by with a little help from our friends

Published on Oct 1, 2015

Volunteers are at the heart of our project. In the past few months three very different organisations have dug deep, literally, alongside our wetland warriors to bring us closer to achieving our goals. After a refreshing morning dip in the Wairau River the Outward Bound students cleared weeds and tracks in the riverside walkway area (map on page 2).Matua Winery started the mammoth task of planting the recently Councilpurchased wetland springs area (map on page 2). Then with the might of the Woodburne based Airforce the first paddock in the wetland springs was planted. The last working bee on the 30 August focused on putting spray guards on the newly planted trees and shrubs. A big thank you to allour volunteers, especially Chris Faulls, Debbie Balcombe, Rosanne.
